How it all started...
The South Lake Church of Christ was founded in 2010 by a group of disciples from Clermont and Winter Garden, Florida. The group had a dream of planting a church in Clermont and began meeting for mid-week services in members' homes. With the support of the Orlando Church of Christ leadership, the group eventually rented a Seventh Day Adventist building for Sunday afternoon services.
The church continued to grow and thrive, and in 2011, the South Lake Church of Christ purchased its own property in Clermont, where it currently holds its worship services. In addition to its regular worship services, the South Lake Church of Christ is actively involved in outreach and community service. The church sponsors youth groups and small Bible study groups, and partners with local and global organizations to provide assistance to those in need.
Over the past 10 years, the South Lake Church of Christ has made significant strides in fulfilling our vision of building a healthy church that makes disciples of Jesus Christ and plants churches that plant other churches. During this time, we have worked to deepen our commitment to discipleship and small group ministry, while also investing in leadership development and community outreach.
We are proud to say that in this time period, not only did we grow in our local congregation but we have been able to plant our first church in Lakeland, FL, which is now thriving and making its own impact in the community. We see this as a major accomplishment, and we are committed to continuing our efforts to plant more churches in the years ahead.
