Speaking Righteously, Not In Anger
We encourage you to listen or watch. This was the third midweek session on Peace. Greg Nevil shares insight on how to speak righteously and not in anger. Greg shared Proverbs 15:1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. He stated, "reacting emotionally to what another person says is the number one reason conversations turn into arguments." It emphasized that emotions come from what we tell ourselves. The story we tell ourselves produce our emotions. Our tendency is to make assumptions in arguments.
When helping and listening to situations we should also know that there are two sides to a story. He shared with us, Proverbs 18:17 [MSG] The first speech in a court case is always convincing— until the cross-examination starts!
We should be aware that our human nature has the tendency to justify our behavior. We need to examine if we are taking for responsibility for our role in these crucial conversations, especially when they go well.
